Another beautiful Adirondack lake to paddle which has an outlet connecting it to other bodies of water is Lake Clear. They do not have an official boat launch. However, I found a public parking lot with a path that leads to the beach. It is easy to launch from the beach. The parking lot is accessible from 30 going north. If you are coming from 186 turn north on 30 (it is a right hand turn).

The beach on the left I launched from.

I wish I had nicer weather for this trip. I was lucky to have one nice day. I don’t think these pictures do this lake justice. On this Memorial Day weekend this lake was a nice paddle even in the rain.
Always be safe. I took along a map – the Adirondack Paddler’s Map North. It is published by Paddlesports Press in Saranac Lake. They can be found at sporting goods stores and book stores in the region. Their website is: www.paddlesportspress.com. I also carry food to munch on and water. In addition, I wore a dry suit as it was snowing in the area up to a couple of weeks prior and the water temps were still quite cold.
Get out and enjoy nature! Be safe!
You may not have had ideal weather but the photos still do justice to this beautiful water trip. We used to have a place on a lake up here in Ontario. I loved the loons, their calls and the babies that would appear sitting on the back of one of the parents.

I would love to se a baby on the mother’s back someday or a loon on a nest. I only saw adult loons this trip. Maybe next trip.

I never would have thought of the wetsuit but I do remember lake temperatures in Canada that literally took my breath away in July!

I’ve seen crazy people on paddle boards in March on the Hudson River with no protective clothing. No matter how experienced you are you have to think safe. It only takes one thing to go wrong before you can have things go south fast.

Yes, you do! I highly recommend it. I know you both prefer hiking and they have many trails with great views.

Yes! We did Indian head and rainbow falls last summer and it turned into 16 miles 😂 after one long weekend, Lake Placid is one of our favorite trips!

That is one long day hike. 8-10 is usually my limit.

The Adirondacks are truly a hiker’s paradise and it looks like a boater’s paradise as well. My daughter and I hiked Mt. Marcy last October. There is something about the Adirondacks that make you want to go back again and again! Your photos make me want to go again soon.

I have only hiked Mt. Vanhovenberg this year. Last summer I wanted to hike several, but kept with kayaking as the mountains were packed with hikers. As long as it does not rain for a day or so I plan to go again to other mountains on other trips. That way I can hike and kayak in the same day.

The beauty of our hike was there were few hikers the day we went. Your kayaking sounds like such a tranquil way to enjoy the mountain views.

It is which is why I am willing to go to more than one location in a day. When I hiked Mt Van Hovenberg this June, I only passed one person on the way up and three groups of people on the way down.
