I stopped on a dark day after work to see the osprey, but only saw this red-tailed hawk up close instead. I have been to this location several times, but it was the first time I saw a red-tailed hawk there.

This park borders a large piece of private property that includes a field and a lot of woods, so this hawk has a variety of spots to chose from. I am guessing it does not go to the shoreline as much.

It was scanning the shoreline of the Hudson River under the tree it was perched on and watching the kingfishers and other birds pass by.

After it fanned out it’s wing feathers it flew off right over my head. I did not take pictures of its flight as I was sure I did not have the shutter speed high enough. It appeared to possibly land and catch something in a grassy area behind me. It was not my anticipated subject, but good to see all the same. Have a great weekend!
Recently saw four circling and circling over Morningside Park in NYC.

Cool! I wonder if it was all the same family or ones trying to choose a mate.

And now it’s reported (by a neighbor) that there’s a pair nesting on Riverside Drive. Not seen them yet myself.

That’s cool! I hope you get to see it! This pair has been sitting in the nest, mating, adding sticks for at least a week. Another pair started adding sticks and sitting on a nearby channel marker. When an eagle came the female from both nests came out to chase it.

Your walls must be peppered with photographs of beautiful birds. Wonderful shots.

I don’t know what to put up. Someone said they would blow up poster size what ever photo I want to give them but I have a hard time choosing. I might try to make some to put in frames or on metal and try to sell at a craft fair, etc. If they don’t sell I can hang them.

You could always frame a bunch of them and hang them on your walls, changing them now and then so you would be surrounded by beauty all the time. Your photographs are so wonderful. I bet if you did that, you would become closer to birds and they would recognize that in you. ❤️
