This bird was tough to snap a picture of. It seemed to be ADHD. It moved quickly from tree to tree and branch to branch. I believe it is a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. If I am wrong let me know.

Ruby Crowned Kinglets are said to be hyperactive, which definitely fits this bird. This type of kinglet is said to have an uneven eye ring, which this one does. The Ruby-Crowned Kinglet is said to have brighter greenish edges on the wing and tail feathers, which you can see here.

This bird was in a wooded area right next to the Hudson River in an area with different kinds of birds.

According to Merlin, the ruby crown is only on the males and is usually hidden. If it becomes agitated you might see it.
This bird was interesting to observe. The Hudson Valley in Southern NY is actually in its non-breeding range. What birds have you caught during this migration?
I bet it was hard to get a photo of this bird! Congrats on your “catches.”

Most of my shots ended up not being good due to how fast it went from one branch to another. The head was not in a good position or it moved behind something. It was tough to photograph.

I came to this post because I did a Google search of a picture in a video from a strange encounter that my husband and I experienced on Christmas Day. My mother-in-law had recently passed away in November, and my husband asked her to show him a sign that she was OK that same day he was outside having a cigarette and this bird came and landed on the chair right next to him, then hopped on his shoulder and stayed there for five minutes at least never moved. Youβre speaking of a hyper activity bird, but this word was not hyper at all. We are feeling as though it was his mother giving us a sign. There really is no other explanation, especially since her favorite color was green specifically that type of green

Itβs a pretty bird. The soft light snd pastel colors are very complementary.

You are right, it is a RC Kinglet – you are also spot on with how hard they are to capture – like their hopped up on pixie sticks ha. There actually might be just a few small feathers showing of the hidden crown in your last shot.

I thought the tiny red patch in that shot might be part of that, but was not sure.

I was happy to see it although it makes it difficult being so hyper.

They kept going back to a bush not too far from where I was standing. Some birds seem like they pose for you and this bird is dodging the bird paparazzi.π
