One of the little towns I visited in England on this trip was Rye. One of the things that stood out for me was some of the windows. Below are some of them.

I love this curved window. It seems a great place to display something like this vase.

One of two windows I tok photos of that had sailboats in them.

I love inside shutters. When I stayed at Oxford University they had something that closed on the inside as well instead of blinds.

The second window displaying a sailboat.

This one was just an interesting shape.
I love the architecture of windows and doors that are older. They seem to have more character. Which one do you like best?

I’d love to have a window like the first one.
When I went to India I was captivated by all the different doors, and imagined making a coffee table book of them. It didn’t happen, but I’ve got lots of great door pictures.

Doors are captivated as well. You should make some posts of those old doors. I would love to see them and I’m sure others would too.

Some interesting windows in Rye. Windows and doors in an old town or city are so interesting. Quebec City and Dublin are 2 places with great character and variety, as well. Happy Saturday. Allan

I haven’t been to Quebec in years. May need to go again in a few years. It does not help they keep closing the train line from NYC to Montreal.

I like old windows, shutters, miniature sailboats too; older things were made so well—I wish we’d go back to making things the old-fashioned way. My favorite is the curved window, it’s gorgeous.

Most of the furniture I buy is from garage sales and vintage shops. It’s just made better. Sometimes I need to sand it down, restrain it, refinish or repaint it ifs it’s metal, but it’s worth the effort. There are a few places that still make solid wood furniture but they are few and far between.

It’s worth the effort to restore the originals, I like finding old treasures and fixing them too.

A lot of people do not appreciate the old. It is a thing to buy up the old furniture and paint over it to make it more modern in appearance.

Yes, I’d be interested in doing restoration for work but I don’t have a truck. I like working with my hands.

A coworker does that on the side with houses. She buys old ones and redoes them and resells them. Some she rents as extra income.
