This guy seemed to have no fear of me. He paused and stared at me before climbing back up the tree. He is making a quick stop at the forest convenience store before any predators came by.

We are supposed to have two good days out of the three this long weekend. Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend and remember the sacrifices many made for our freedom.
We have lots of grey squirrels in the park near where I work. Because so many people pass through there on a regular basis, the little guys are as bold as brass. I’ve had them come right up to me and put their paws on my leg. I’m really fond of them, even though in the UK they’re not a native species and have decimated the native red squirrel population… Still, there are initiatives in areas of the UK (like Tayside and the Highlands) to contain greys (sterilisation, introduction of pine martens, etc) so there’s that. Great photos, as always, Sharon.

I understand they are not looked on very favorably in the UK. Someday I would like to see some red squirrels. I know they are found in certain areas.

I did leave food in the woods on my winter walks. In my complex we are not allowed to feed the wildlife due to a bear they came through 1.5 years ago.
