I came upon this barred owl when I heard birds going nuts in the woods. I was about to walk this way and saw this owl. Its mate was hunting nearby. I felt like the owl was thinking there is nothing to see here, move along. I took a picture then left. Sometimes the male hunts for food for the female, and sometimes they are hunting to feed the young. I have seen the male bring the female his catch . Have a great holiday weekend!
Nothing to see here. I love the title.
Hehe, nothing does it know it is everything! Love it. Thanks.

So chivalous of the male owl 🙂

She is on babysitting duty most of the time now that the owlet is out of the nest. Sometimes they both are hunting. Chivalry exists in the owl world.

That makes sense, the owlets are probably vulnerable to predators if they’re left alone, great teamwork. Some males in the animal kingdom leave the female, even before birth.

From what I have heard, if its true, they separate after the babies can be on their own. The male and female have their own areas to hunt the rest of the year. The same male and female come together to mate an draise young every year.

Monogamous, so sweet.

It is actually a good time to photograph other birds if they are alert to the Owls presence. I’ve been pretty lucky with “owl mobs” as they tend to bring out a lot of the nearby birds that you normally would not see.

Birds noisily complaining is one of the ways I usually find owls. Here the jays and robins are the loudest ones. The chipmunks give them away as well, but I don’t think it’s too smart on their end. The owls seem to grab the chipmunks the most to feed the babies.
