Your photos are marvelous, Sharon. I have been dreaming of seeing a Short-eared Owl since my only encounter so far in 2016 and would be on cloud nine if I were able to get similar photos.
Come to New York. They leave in the next 1-3 weeks to head to Canada. Some live year round near the border, but I’m thinking on private land. Luckily I live not a far drive away from one place they return to every year. People come from other states and some come in camper vans. They stay nearby and return over a few days. I went Dec- mid Feb ? every Sunday before I saw them come closer. Before the time change I was able to start going 1-2 days a week after work. They seem more accommodating during the week when there is less people or when people stopped coming in large crowds on weekends.
Those eyes are stunning! Great shots, Sharon!

They must like you and keep giving you opportunities, or just teasing. Nice pics.

I still hope to happen to meet one out of the blue when I’m out birding in their habitat.

Brilliant shots, well done!
I like the ‘bird house’ ones as well you took later, what a great capture!

Thanks! I was so happy it landed on the bird house. That I believe is the closest post to where photographers are allowed to stand.
